Great place for lunch near Ourique

If you're making your way up to Lisbon and avoiding the tolls (
), there's a great place literally on the IC1, just before Ourique, at Aldeia dos Palheiros the Novo Coimbra https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restauran ... ntejo.html
The chef/owner is from Tras Os Montes and has Carne Mirandesa (Mirandese beef) delivered regularly. If you've not tried it, it is a fantastic beef breed native to his home area. I can recommend the Posta Mirandesa if you have an appetite. They also serve great Porco Preto (Ourique is the "Capital of the black Pig") and the prices are good.
A word of warning - this is a busy, working restaurant that brings good prices through footfall.... so it gets BUSY! If you arrive during the busy time, be prepared to wait and observe the staff flying around. If you arrive just after peak lunchtime, allow them to catch their breath! On the Portuguese Tripadvisor there are many comments about poor service, etc. - this is not my experience (but then, they know me!).....it can happen (but it can also be local rivalries). Also, it has a HUGE grill area and that is the SPECIALITY, if you choose something else, you're tempting fate (I don't like their sauces, etc., but since when was pepper sauce a Portuguese staple?)
Good food at good prices
